Vaquero in all metal will tear up a tot lot.....:cam:

I went down to the river today and the water is really rolling.

Then I went over to the tot lot where I have removed thousands of nails.

I discovered that the all metal is a killer way to hunt tot lots with the V.

Before the rugged rug rats showed up I found five ear rings. Three have
silver and two have stones. I found a silver foot and a chain neckless.
I found a brass thing off a saddle. Twenty three cents in change and some
action figures. Best of all is, one of the rings I found is a nice little kids silver
ring with a blue stone.

This tot lot has been hunted many, many times, which is illustrated by the
lack of coins. The V can still squeeze some finds out with no problem. lOOk

V did real well today.......That was a challenge for any metal detector.............

HH,

I've always hunted tot lots in all metal mode and removed all the nails, screws, pieces of wire and other metal objects that might hurt a child.. For the last several years I've been using a detector designed for hunting gold nuggets, a Discovery Electronics Treasure Baron Goldtrax, for tot lots most of the time. Not only does it get stuff almost too small for tired old eyes to see, it doesn't miss anything metal. The single link from a chain, lying on the penny in the photo, was found with the Goldtrax in a pea gravel tot lot, took awhile to find after the detector found it. The Vaquaro in all metal mode, at least with the 5.75 coil, should do as well as the Goldtrax on tiny stuff. Anyone who has the patience to hunt in all metal mode and dig the whisper signals will do well in finding small gold jewelry, and darn sure won't miss coin size targets:).

Awesome!!!

Ive used my V and Golden for tot lots for a long time and usually run them irght down on all metal, or slightly above. I found a nice bracelt last year, one that was more air than metal. It was still a broken and iffy signal, but had I dialed in more DISC, I wager I'd not have found it at all.

Tabdog the county should be paying you the way that you clean those tot lots out.
I do enjoy seeing the finds and reading the reviews and advice on the detectors.

Your best find to date will be when you find the ford that those keys fit.;)

hi tabdog, you seem to have the luck of the irish or is it that more people in the states have more to lose and want to keep up the averages so they can so they can collect on their insurences.i hunt the tot lots in australia where ever i can find them ,a few cheap coins is all i get ,but i keep looking.one :detecting:thought i had ,was to come there and blitz the area, but i was only dreaming ,besides it sounds to cold.what does wtg and hh stand for ?maybe things will improve soon, the vaquero is only a couple of days away coming by camel train or cobb and co.
blowfly :detecting:

Great job Tabdog. The V is cool cat in iron. I've found that it will find just about any conductor (even in a bed of nails) with the 5.75 concentric. If you go real slow and listen to whats it's telling you. I feel sorry for anyone who trys to detect a tot lot anywhere around your area. The way your going there won't be a conductor in the ground in a 25 mile radius of your house!

well not really. There are some situations where to do so would have me writing with a Crayola Crayon from the Funny Farm! I do it almost always when CW relic hunting, just figure I can't afford to pass up any good target. And tot lots part of the time. But I will agree, if you really want to be certain you have dug just about all, it is the way to go.

When you get the V in, be sure and practice with the all metal mode.
It makes the V a truly all around machine. It is very informative.

WTG means "way to go"

HH means "happy hunting"

Some of the other ones I haven't figgered out yet.

Happy Hunting,
