Vaquero have a favorite headphone?

phil....

New member
Hi there Tesoro users and in particular Vaquero users

The new Vaquero is on its way now and wondered if anyone had found a preference for a particular headphone.

I know folks have there preferences but did something stand out as better than the rest for the Vaquero and the particular frequency of sounds it makes?

Many thanks in advance

Phil

I have a pair of Killer B's that I love with this.
They did go bad on me a few months ago and I dig get another pair from Sears and a inline volume control to temporarily take its place.
The cheaper ones work well and they are more of an open ear type which I found I like very well because I can still hear a little more that's going an around me, and they are a little cooler in the summer heat than the closed cup on the B's.

Caught this $29.99 set on sale for $23
XXXXXXXXX Edit

I can still hear all tones and nuances of those tones with the cheaper pair, just don't get too cheap because I also have a cheap pair of Sony's that sound very "muddy".

You will need an inline volume control if you don't get one on the pair you choose because the Vaq's volume will blow your ears off.

Also needed on any regular set would be an 1/8--1/4 plug adapter.

Lots of people like some Koss units and others.

I still love my B's the best...Lifetime warranty and all.
When winter comes, I am switching back to these because they keep my ears warmer.

Love my Sunray Pro Golds w/ seperate volume controls on each side!

Get the best that you can afford. . . In this case, you get what you pay for in quality.

anyone found some light ones for summer with the same sound quality as the sun rays or killer B's etc....? like sharp tones not washed out like most light ones are?

I just use Skullcandy ear buds because I like to wear my Tilley hat.

I've compared those buds to my Garrett TreasureSound headphones (which are admittedly cheap) and the buds are much, much better. The ear buds work well with my Vaquero, Silver, Compadre, & my Garrett 1350. (It's a sickness, I know...)

Sometimes I use a Koss Unity Gain Amplifier but it's not really needed. My hearing is not the best (it sucks) so I try to boost the higher frequency sounds.

Supposedly the complete ear covering headphones would be better but I'm such a sweating fool in the summer that I'm reluctant to try them. The Skullcandies are cooler and let me hear outside sounds pretty well. My only complaint would be wind noise which I guess would be eliminated with muff-type phones.

I use Killer B's with my Vaquero and they produce great sounds and are quality built... very good headphones and my first choice .
Also, they are extremely light and comfortable which is a point to consider if you detect for long periods of time.
