My buddy and I made one more trip back to the old homesite that produced some nice buttons on a couple of previous hunts and we were not disappointed today.
Together we found 6 military buttons and some other items.. surprisingly, we have not found a single coin yet, but I believe they are there.
I got another I button although this one is a little smaller than the other one I found.
I also got my first ever script I button and first ever script A button and both are in very good condition considering they have been in the ground for many years.
My buddy got a pre civil war A button and an I button that is different than the one I found.
He also got an eagle button.
I found a couple of latern parts that have patent dates on them and thought this would help dated the site.
One of them has a patent date of March 8,1868 and the other one has a patent date of June 30,1863.
It also has Riess Feb.4, 68.
I'm guessing based on this and the items we have found so far, this place dates back from the early 1800's to just shortly after the civil war.
Sure would be nice to find a coin from this site as it is bound to be a good one too!
Thanks for looking,
Felix
