Vaquero for relics?

Just got my first detector, decided to get a Vaquero and a Garrett pro pointer. Have a quick question, I got permission to hunt 3 acres of private land on a big battlefield in VA. How capable is the Vaquero for this type of hunting?

Super tune it and it will do a good job for relic hunting.

going to depend on how ironized the dirt is , if it is put a DD on it it will do well

Why would you not use a Vaquero for relics? Good depth, sensitivity. For your field , ground balance, put a coin under a shoe box and see at what height you can detect it. Fill the box with damp soil and see what loss, if any you encounter when you run the detector over the soil filled box.. I have one place that a friend tried hunting. Complained about "hot rocks", never found anything other than a large cent half exposed.. It was an iron foundry area. The box test gave less than an inch on an Indian cent. When field hunting for relics, I don't like all metal. I go to disc at the lowest setting...The local cherry pickers who set their machines all the way up, manage to leave me the Indian cents, and it does not take much to lose half dimes, gold rings.

it will work fine. i do not do the super tune thing. if you do decide to, take a few extra batteries along. it eats them up. it will do great running it normal though. good luck.
