Vaquero finds

well I have had The Vaquero about a week and these are the first significant finds. I found about 30 pennys and 5 nickels and a million pull tabs of all ages, at some local parks.i think im starting to get the hang of it. tonight I was looking in a plowed field where I used to look for indian arrow heads when I was a kid. my buddy found a 1850's penny there a long time ago by eye, so i figued i would go back. I think there used to be a house there or something cause there was lots of square nails. but found these 2 things. The one is a button not sure from exactly when. best i can tell from googling around is rev. to civil war military button. the other thing looks pretty much like a piece of coal. it is not magnetic and in the same area, so i dont think its metorite. any Ideas?

Nice button.

I would love to find something like that.

The other looks like coal.

Did it give a signal?

HH,

ya it gave a good signal, i dont remember where the disc was.though, is coal reactive to metal detectors?

I'm almost sure it is not. Not 100%, but I have hunted around coal and never got a signal on it.

My next guess would be that it is some sort of slag, or melted material.

Maybe it's coke. If I am spelling that right. It may give a signal.

Let us know if you find out.

Thanks for sharing,

it looks like it is natural, it has a bunch of fine layers on the one side, it also has a goldish shine to it.

Possible hot rock? I was hunting yesterday and got a signal on a rock with my V. In any event that is a sweet button find, Beale.
