Vaquero finds my first two cent piece...

fwcrawford

Well-known member
I searched around an old homesite today for a few hours and although finds are getting scarce now, I did score this two cent piece... my first one.
It is pretty rough shape with no date, but I'm happy with it.
Maybe the next one will be in better condition.
Thanks for looking,
Felix

Way to go felix! That's a very nice find. I hope to have my Vaquero in a day or two. Can't wait to try it out - - -

Felix,

Nice two center, did the signal have 'roundness' and were you "juiced"? Never mind the trash talk, but have you seen the 'digger' shows? I can't get those shows on NGC and Spike TV, maybe that is a good thing. The metal detector forums are up in arms with these shows. Anyway, welcome to the two cent club, it is a different meaning than my two cents worth.

Oh yeah, I saw the show the night it aired and that was enough for me.
Now don't get me wrong, I love detecting and finding good targets just like so many others, but I don't
get nearly as excited as those two fools on that show!!LOL

Can't say for sure how deep this as I was using a shovel and it was in the first scoop, but a good guess would be about 3 or 4 inches max.
The area I found it at has been under water for many years and now is exposed shoreline.

Congratulations! I know how excited I got when I found mine with my Vaquero. What disc setting were you using?

I had the disc. set at the first mark below the nickel mark. I checked this coin on two ID machines.. an X-Terra 50 and a Sovereign GT. the GT gave a reading of 180 which is the same number for copper pennies, dimes, quarters, half dollars, etc.
The X-Terra gave a reading of 33 which is slightly higher than a zinc penny.
I would have had to raise the disc. up very high to knock out this coin.
