Vaquero finds from today...

fwcrawford

Well-known member
I have seen many folks asking questions about the Vaquero lately and thought I'd post some finds made today around an old home site.
This is my go to detector for this type of hunting and I have little use for a VID machine since who knows what could be lying in the ground.
I also found an old hatchet and what I believe is an old adze that looks hand made.
I have them soaking now getting them ready for an electrolsys bath later this week.
Thanks for looking,
Felix

That's some really neat finds you got there. What the heck is that ornate thingy?

It was the top to some kind of lantern...probably for a candle from the size of it.. only about 7" high.
I also found the botton part and there were two straps that connected the top and bottom.
I may try to repair for display.

Looks like the an ornate top of a wood space heater. I like my Vaquero also nice finds.

The .44 caliber bullet was just below the surface, but the sharps bullet was maybe 5 inches or so.
These finds came from a lake shore surrounding a home site, so there has been some erosion and some sedimentation going on over the years.
