vaquero finds a v

I took my vaquero to a site that I have detected for the past 10 yrs. It is in a farm field where an old homestead once stood. The site is covered with lots of iron, so it can be a challenge to hunt. I had the stock coil on with the disc. at below nickel, sens. at 9 and threshold a slight hum. Seems like I can always pull a few coins from this site. I find what I can at shallow depths and than wait for the next year after the farmer works the ground. I know some will think I should dig all the iron but I would need a dump truck following me around to dispose of all of it.

Very nice!!!!!!!!!!!!

Those farm fields are rewarding.

I have a old farm just like that , every time it gets plowed something pops up , looks like plenty still in the ground on that site

Nice finds............I can relate to you on the iron thing. My inlaws have a farm that I have been hunting for the last several years and at times I just have to walk away from an area because of all of the iron sending the detector into "overload". Were you able to get a date off of the "V"?

I never found a v or shield nickle before I got my Vaq 2 years ago. Now i have several.

Jazzman, It was an 1899 but it is in really bad shape. Laying in a farm field all these years, has not been kind to it. The Indian head was 1895 and I believe the wheats were early teens.
Hatpin, you are doing really well with your vaquero. Shield nickels are hard to find, I've only found a couple.

last week i got a vaquero. found a 1808 one cent coin in the back yard on my 3rd day. good finds there guy. good luck.
