Vaquero Comparison

DiggerDug

New member
It's just an observation but it seems like the Vaquero has become the new Fisher 1266x. I remember some years ago all detectors were measured by how they compared to the 1266 depth wise.Tesoro has come a long ways since then in the depth catagory. I think it's great that a company known for there quality has set the standard by which others are compared now. Tesoro is #1 in my book.

My Vaquero has great depth and, discrimination. You can't ask for much more. The weight is a huge advantage as well.

Right! But you do get more. You also get a quality made detector at a reasonable price, great customer service and a lifetime warranty.

Tesoro rocks!

My new Vaquero arrives today, and am looking forward to learning it. After 5 years now, I'm ready to move up from the Silver uMax which has been a fantastic relic machine. :beers:
I really appreciate all the great info posted on this site. It will be a great help for me on the new machine.
I agree, Tesoro is without a doubt an outstanding company that makes a fantastic product. It's great to have something still made in the USA too. :usaflag:

Tesoro might be an outstanding company in the USA but it is losing support here in Australia.I have emailed them about six times asking why they stopped shipping to Australia, I am still waiting for a reply to that, with reference to a lifetime waranty it is my understanding that it only applies to machines bought in the USA. Having bought 6 or so detectors from them I would have thought that I would be a valued customer, seems not to be the case.I know we have a Tesoro dealer here Down Under but there is quite a difference in the cost of a machine here because we have to pay what is called the GST.

I have not recieved anything from you personally. We have a distributor in Australia and I have said it at least 30 times in the last 6 months.

The Vaquero is the best MD I've used to date. Without argument the most effective, easy to use detector out there. You're right about the Vaquero being a benchmark. I realized this the first time I took it out and now, it's become the standard by which I measure other detectors. Funny thing, I held off for about a year and a half before buying it.

I'm very glad and satisfied that I turned my Cibola into a Super Vaq.
This was after intensive online forum research narrowing down the Big 6. (Tesoro, Whites, Minelab, Fisher, Garret and BH.)
I have no regrets, and am exceedingly satisfied when I go detecting with a friend who swings a Minlab at many times the cost and learning curve, yet only finds an average nickel or quarter or two more change than me, and no less trash.

Wow, glad I seen this thread. I am a relic hunter and have been heeing and hawing about buying a fisher 1266 for some time now. I came within inches of buying a 1266 from a member on here but my finances held me back. I would truly like to see an all out comparison between the two machines done. The dedicated fisher users would argue that the 66 is still deeper than the Vaq, But looks to me like the difference would be minimal. I'll stick with the Vaq. I am always looking for the deepest machine on finding tiny stuff deep, The Vaq does a thourough job and leaves little behind. to tesoro, the Vaq will always be a hard one to beat.
