Vaquero compared to Golden umax?

Anyone use both of these machines, and what do you think is better on coins and better on jewelry? I have watched 53silver's videos on the umax and it seems very impressive.

The Golden to me is a coin hog.The vaquero is more of a everything detector.Any Tesoro is a good metal detector. The Golden can lack some depth on hitting nickel's.If you are the type that wants to go to the park and rake up the coins then the golden is for you.Silver jewelry and silver coins are the golden's favorite to pick out the crowed. If you are more of a serious detectorist that wants the max depth, and likes to hunt very old areas for deep coins and relics then the vaquero is for you.

I've never used a Golden, but it sounds interesting. Will the new Golden have adjustable GB and notch? I do like the idea of 4 distinct tones. With exception of the notch and tones, it sounds like it may be similar to the Outlaw (operating frequency of approx 10khz?). Though I guess all the Umax series are more similar than dissimilar.

I am interested in the Golden because of 53silver's video on how it can notch out pull tabs, other junk and still cherry pick gold rings. This would be used while detecting soccer fields, ball diamonds, and some parks. I have a Tekntics T2 for the deep silver at older parks. I bought the vaquero and think that I should've bought the Golden.

I'm still waiting to see what comes next for the Golden from the factory; until then they are getting pretty scarce I hear.

Yep. And I have been impressed numerous times by the Golden on target separation/ID. I was scanning when I got a nice silver sound but mixed with iron sound. I dug the plug and out came a rusty nail. I thought darn, just a false signal. But I rechecked the hole and still had nice signal. From the same hole I popped a 1954 Wheat penny. Not too impressive on the coin but the fact that it separated/ID'd the two was amazing to me.

53 Silver video is the reason I got the Golden. I am one of the lucky ones that has a newer model. Just be aware there is a bit more to the notch feature then shown in the video. What he discusses is just a small part of the total picture. It is difficult to explain but in time and with use you understand the abilities of the Golden. I made a chart correlating with marks i made with permanent marker on the notch range. It took me an hour or so but what I did is this.
First the notch switch should be in center position. I took all the different pull tabs and can slaw I had dug to this point with the Golden and all the gold rings I have in my house (seven total). I slowly rotated the notch dial until I got a nickel sound with pull tab(mid-low tone) and tested each ring. I then charted what sound they made. Six of them fell in low/foil tone. I made a mark on the machine with permanent marker exactly where the notch knob was. Knowing the rings fell in foil and not pull tab I then wanted to see if I could get rid of foil by changing the tones again. I slowly rotated notch knob until all rings fell into nickel sound. I tested all of them and all sounded as nickel. Foil from sport drink lid/chewing gum hit in foil. So now I had most pull tabs and foil separated from the rings.
The catch is hunting in one of the settings on notch dial then when you get a promising signal you rotate the notch dial to other position and see if the target still sounds good. You can tweak as much as you want. You will still dig pull tabs but way less. This weapon the Golden offers is priceless. I hope this helps. Good luck and HH
