Vaquero coil bump falsing

I recently bought a used Vaquero and while relic hunting with it this past weekend I found it falses HARD when the coil bumps into trees and even field stubble. My old Sidewinder never dis this. Normal or coil problem?

Hey, I got a used Vaq and it also falses on medium knocks, haven't checked if it's the coil or coil housing yet. The small coil works well, no falsing. I'll baby the swing for now.

Mine was pinging at the end of the swings. Just the force of the direction reverse would do it. I checked and tightened everything and it helped a lot. I also figured out that cutting the sensitivity back a bit would make it stop. The thing is real sensitive.

Hello my Vaquero also produces noise if you hit the ground coil and heavy vegetation, I think about all the detectors.
Have a good day and I send greetings from Madrid-Spain.

my cibola coil had problem with sounding from smallest bumps.I took apart coil from coil cover, started to play with coil and in the center found most sensitive place to bumps. I took big part off coil shielding and its stopped!!!! it was three years ago when I just bought my first detector Cibola. now I think it was just not enough tighten metal coil nut...:heh: its how I check thing :chase: metal screw for coil is best invention for the new users  good luck Stasys

My Vaquero does not false when hitting debris, it has a stock coil , however, I make sure that the coil wire leading to the control box is tight at the base and up about a foot or so from the coil. Any movement, of this wire will cause falseing.

Make sure you have enough slack in the coil wire so that it isn't strained when it pivots on the rod bolt in all positions. Never so loose that it flops around and gets caught on objects when in use. First pic is normal position, second two are in both extremes

Both my detectors (as well as my 1st one) have had the cable run and nylon tied straight-up the lower stem since the day they were bought (new), and all 3 would false when bumping things such as corn stubble.
