Vaquero battery question

Will the vaquero use more battery power when it is super tuned. One video said he changed the battery every 10 hours.

I didn't run supertuned very often, but I still found 10-12 hours was about it for the battery. The Vaquero starts getting erratic when the battery is too low, I might have been able to squeeze another hour or two, but I didn't push the limits. On a side note, I had a Cortes back in 2008 and I carefully kept track of the hours. Even with occasional use of the back light I still managed 60 hours on a set of batteries.

I use a UK version of the Vaquero (Trident 11 Extreme) which is basically the steroid version if you like, been tweaked by the main UK Tesoro/Laser repair centre and also a main dealer,it would have originally been made and shipped over with the 1 9volt battery, but i am assuming as its been tweaked for better performance it has had the Tejon battery pack installed for longer battery life which is of course 8x1.5v +12v,in this configuration it last alot longer than just the 1 9volt battery by a massive margin.

Also another bonus that i have found with this setup is that the original battery compartment is of course still on the machine but disconnected, but i store a spare new battery for my Garrett pinpointer in the battery compartment and so i never forget a battery for the probe as i would be lost without it other wise.

Cannot comment on how long a normal Vaquero battery would last but having the Tejon battery setup was a smart move in my opinion.

The more it talks to you, the more the battery gets used up. Headphones help 'cause they take less power to drive than the internal speaker.
You do not need to worry about going through batteries with a Vaquero; they last for a few outings. You'll find enough clad in one or two trips for at least another battery, and probably a decent lunch.

Just get a couple of rechargeable batteries and it's a non-issue. Always have one charged and ready to swap.

That's a fairly easy modification to do, if anyone's wanting even longer battery life. It also gives you a bigger arm cuff and adds a counter-balance which helps when swinging a bigger coil. Was thinking of adding the rear Tejon pole to my GB modded Cibola, but haven't gotten 'round to it yet.

I can say that I've been generally pleased and surprised with the battery life on both my single 9v detectors and my multiple 1.5 machines. I understand that some earlier machines ate batteries quickly, but I've been well served by name brand alkalines. If battery life becomes an issue for me that would be good because it means I've been able to detect a lot.

I picked up a set of 4 liIon 9v batteries last summer EBL brand and they've been great!!!
I get about 5 extra hours out of them but when they die, they die fast so I always have a spare.
Before that I used Lowe's brand of 9v. Got a 12 pack for like $5-6 and they were great too.
Also the only batteries I've seen that come with a little rubber cap on each for the negative terminal so they don't short in your pocket or bag.

I like only having to keep 9v's for both my detector and pinpointer. Makes it real easy for those extended trips far away from your vehicle. I have had good luck with the generic brands and haven't noticed a quicker drain when being super tuned.

that's it buy a few rechargeable batterys keep a couple freshly charged ones with me and there is never a reason to use a battery into I am running out of power range and I can charge them when I get home and am right to go next time...
