i haven't been gold detecting yet and i have vaquero that was sold to me as an alround detector that was capable for gold detecting.now i understand there are many dedicated gold detectors out there specifically designed to do thjis job.i have read back through many of this sites posts and so far only seen one derogative remark about a tesoro vaquero.surely someone must have used this, good or bad, maybe not worth talking about.i live near the gold fields in north queensland and as yet haven't venture out there.i can't afford an expensive fancy machine, being a penioner,a did a lot of soul searching before outlaying for this one.what i problemly want to know is there a reasonably cheap detector that can do the job? hh.see ya! blowfly

The Vaquero is capable of finding gold. Use it where it has some kind off advanatage, looking for gold amongst junk infested areas of the goldfield diggings.
I have used a Vaquero and reckon its a good little machine. Dont listen to the bagging it gets, its an ok little detector for a VLF.

I have found around 20 nuggets with my V. The only problem is, the GB is very touchy in hot ground. Hunt in all metal.
