Vaquero and a Twenty Dollar Gold Piece

There may be two $20.00 gold pieces within striking distance..If you have a Vaquero and a $20, I need some air distances..My settings will be , discrimination, just above small nails , sensitivity set for warp speed. Standard coil..Speaker is good enough.I'll have phones by the time Spring arrives...If you have the "V". $20 gold and 3 by 18 coil that would be of major interest as well..On long coil, interest there is potential drop off..My coin dealer is closed until into the new year...Ground is starting to take a freezing hit, so I am planning my searches, getting maps, research, and "stuff " like target data, water depths now..You all have the best New Year possible.. And,thank you for any assistance ,Cordially Nad

Yeah, I don't have the $20 gold piece, but I have experimented with the widescan long coils and they drop off in sheets that are rectangular-one sheet say at 4" may only be 3X14, at 6", 3X8, etc. So for depth, you still have to overlap at least half of the coil.

.... no sense in doing what someone else says is "the Way," when that someone is not near or even remotely able to duplicate your circumstances.

Now Im pretty sure a large, gold coin will hit about smack on a nickel, maybe up around pulltab. But take no chances, and no prisoners.

Depends on the particulars of the search area of course, but if I had that opportunity with a pretty good assuramce that the target was there somewhere, I'd be hunting in full sensitivity, all metal, digging everything and using as large a coil as I could use depending on the trash in the area. Good luck on this one and be sure to keep us informed. (As if you could resist posting a find like that, LOL)
Happy New Year,
BB

I went and checked both areas out today..The gold coin that was thrown is in really difficult country, brush and boulders. If we can determine where it may have been thrown from., spray everything into 4 foot grids and plug away with a four inch coil on hands and knees..Copperhead country...... permission from land owner.?. The gold coin on the belt buckle..I make everything way super too big for myself...... Common sense says that a guy needing to up chuck was going only as far as he had to..This knocks down a 500 yard.square field into a much easier area. The woods, about 500 yards by 200 yards, got smaller..He wasn't going to the far end..So, the search area has shrunk..Now, to determine if the woods had been cut back in the last forty years,Finding the location of the party house would make even more shrinking possible..And, I got the address of a gal who wanted me to find a ring lost years ago..Tall grass near a fence row.We sell and split..I have a friend who is a Real Estate sales person. She manages rentals in the area. Some of the houses are quite old.Said, I want to go over the lawns with a metal detector..I will cut the grass for you one time in return for permission.. BE MY GUEST!!!! That was the second real estate agent..... If I can't hunt with the detector, I'll hunt places to use it ,...Cordially NAD

I've used the 4" coil a fair bit. Great for heavy trash and great for tight places between rocks and moving through heavy vegetation etc. Takes a while to cover much area, though and the depth is somewhat limited. That said, I made one of my best finds with the little hocky puck so I keep one in my arsenal..
