Vaquero air test?

D&P-OR

Well-known member
What's the max. inches you guys get with your Vaquero on a dime in an air test with the stock 9X8 coil?

About 11 inches, good solid signal. Dug a clad dime in mild soil at better than 10", soft signal, thumbed the disc still hit both ways when Xing so I dug. Using stock coil

Thanks guys----From what I'm understanding here & other places I've gotten reports on.----A "healthy" Vaquero should air test a dime at 10" at around 10 sensitivity & if it's super tuned should get you about 2 more inches (air test).----Is there much variation in individual Vaqueros as far as depth capabilities goes (apples for apples air tests)?------Thanks, Del

Hi There
From Australia so i don't have a Dime to test the Vaq, try your air test in all metal mode, with a very slight threshold hum, i have found this goes deep, deeper in this mode air testing than in Super Tune Mode,in beach sand i have found ali cans at 26 inches deep, with a good hit on the can, this is in sand ground balanced at zero on the vaq.Not sure how deep the Vaq in this mode would pick up on a Ali can with a faint whisper of a sound,
