Vaquero 10 turn pot to Ground Balance

I got hold of Sven to see if he would put a ten turn pot in the Vaquero ground balance circuit for me..My guess is that the ten turn will allow me to get closer to the balance point,and allow finer adjustments toward the ground side...This should translate into better sensitivity..I had a Fisher T20,made by Tom O'Hara in Florida .It had a ten turn pot for ground balance, and would kick everything except Tom's own machine.Getting some extra play dollars, and I've wondered if this would work..So, soon as I get paid, the "V" gets shipped..The only test I will be able to make until the soil thaws, will be the ground balance. If the ground balance can be set dead silent in this ground, the possibility exists my hunch was right. If not, I got a better pot in the machine than the factory supplied. Next, I'll start wondering if some sort of meter could be hooked up to monitor ground balance in operation.., Then,you could visually see the optimum level for maximum sensitivity.like the Fisher...We all have our perfect detector dreams...Cordially Nad

Hi,
I've just got two 10 turns pots in may mailbox. They're gonna to be mounted on my Tejon and Vaquero. Here in Rome there are some vulcanic areas with very hot soil and my Tejon is really hard to get a neutral GB (as I easily did with my modded Cibola).
I talk to Sven about this mod on Vaquero and He told me that the only problem is that there is not enough space to just replace old gb pot with the new one (that is longer).
So You'll have to put it where originally was pinpoint button and decide what to do with the old GB pot.

Imho, here are some solutions:
1) Replace it with pinpoint button removed from its original position;
2) Mount a 1 turn pot and switch to make a notch system (the Tejon way).

Solution two is more interesting but I have not enough technical knowledge (and gut) to make it real, so if any guy could help with scheme and a "how to"...

Best regards,

Little update.
Bourns 10 turns pot does not fit in Tejon control box. I've just done some tests with mine.
Tejon has some capacitor and electrical resistances that don't let it fit properly.
One solution is to invert Threshold and GB positions...
