:detecting:Vacation in 4-weeks-YES TAKING MY DETECTORS-1 LAND DETECTOR,1 WATER DETECTOR-YES-I AM GONNA GET VERY WET;I always find some great things at them state parks in upper Michigan-all this hot weather and the rains we have had here in Michigan;the water will be nice and warm for some marathon detecting!!!!

and will pray for you (and your family if you are taking them too) to have a safe, fun filled, enjoyable vacation. I spent 8 years in the U.P. (K.I.Sawyer AFB - when it was open - last 4 years as a Police Officer on the base). Love the U.P. and Marquette area. Now if you could get into the base lake you may find some real goodies. The base was there back in the 50s. Lots of people used the lake for swimming and trout fishing. Was up to the base (now pretty much a ghost town) and the lake had overgrown along its banks with trees and such.
Had always wanted to detect that small lake but never did.
I heard or read somewhere that there is someone who lives in the area - either on the base or in Gwinn/Little Lake area who detects. Maybe he doesn't know the history of the base/lake. HH Steve
