vacation beaches around texas,mexico

rusty

New member
I am trying to find some good vacation type beaches around texas or mexico.I have a lot of detectors but am not in the best areas to use them.I think I would do best at water searching ,wading ,but am also a diver if need be.Can anyone help with info on resort type beaches or some good places to research?
Thanks Rusty

I posted the number to the Mexican Consulate here in my area awhile back I'll research it and post it again, but if it was me I would stick to the Texas beaches and keep myself off Mexico beaches, this holds even more true on the border. If your in deep Mexico then its not so bad but the border is a risk you just don't need to take. PM me and I'll tell ya a few good spots around here but they are in deeeeeeeeeep South Texas.

Anything you can get on, from Galveston, to South Padre Island, can be a goldmine!
School districts, here, stagger their 'spring breaks', so a week, or two, after Memorial Day, is a good time to be at south Padre, the "Mecca", for many 'too affluent' kids!
Watches, rings, other jewelry abound in the surf at that time, and are there for the picking!
Anywhere there is a 'beach front' shower, and there are many, deserves attention; jewelry seems to abound, in those locations; ditto, around the 'porta potties'.
'High end' condos, and the sand from them to the surf, are also productive sites, in my experience.
Hope this is of help!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the whole island of Padre has been classified as a state or federal park.I have even seen it somewhere that even if you're not using a detector but it's in the trunk of your car officials can confiscate it and fine you. They made Padre a state park a few years ago after someone discovered treasure offshore.
