[attachment 232340 May1 02012002.jpg] The V3i is a fine detector.and a lot of "FUN" to detect with.. All targets pretty much Id'd where they should.
I like, and enjoy using the V3i a great deal.

Congratulations Elton, I think you are starting to become one with the force.......:starwars:

Happy days for you Elton. You are doing well. If you make changes just make small ones and one at a time to see if it is a good move.

This machine is most capable out of the box..and little changes make it better as you get more confidence with it..

I honestly am enjoying detecting with the V3i .. I also like when you get a little bored while not hitting much a push of the button your in a different preset program that works in the area better..

Today I stuck with coins, and raised sens up 1 at a time seeing how far I could go and stay stable... At 85 it worked perfect. next time I will do the same and go up a little more..

Elton, Nothing wrong with 3 fine silvers in less than 3 hours. Well done.

Sounds like you're doin' really well....I think sometimes people try to set 'er up too hot....cool 'er down for awhile and learn what she's sayin'....gl and hh!!

Today I took the V3i into a place so full of junk it sounds like a machine gun fire with other detectors. I put it in High Trash Mode and was amazed the machine worked the area pretty good.
I was even able to raise the sens up to 85.. I didn't find any Silver, but did find a couple Wheat cents, some Canadian pennies, and Memorials at 5" deep . Almost every hole dug had Pull-tabs, and small pieces of junk within the area the coins were reading.............. I did not dig much junk from readings on the machine that read as targets unless it was a good target. In fact the machine was not popping or sounding off ............ Pretty neat I thought..

Found the High Trash mode very interesting.I will go back and find the Silver that must be there somewhere I didn't hit today..

No detector has produced any finds in this area for about one year.. Not the Etrac..not the Se pro... Just junk... F75 didn't find any coins either..

This morning seeing as how I am learning this machine I went in and set the V3i on coins only mode.. Sens at 86.... started hitting blips at 87..so backed off one.. I found in this area all at 5" and 6"
8 clad dimes in junk... 5 memorials , 4" to 6" ......One Nickle at 7" with junk ( Pulltabs) in same hole.......and one small whatchamacallit it piece.. ??? No idea...

Also got two very old, with rings still attached, pull tabs that rang in as a dime target. ( Aluminum) so OK with the reading.. Delay was set to 84.......... worked like a charm. If Silver had been present the V3i would have found it. I suspect that if the delay had been set lower more coins would have been found..

My point is ( I know boring for you guys No Silver) the V3i with the DD 10" coil and the right program makes hunting trashed out areas rather easy. With out constant beep ,beep on junk..yet still finds the coins....... The V3i has almost unlimited settings potential to make it work in all areas.. That is impressive to me..

Very pleased with the total overall operation. No place will now be off limits for hunting with the potential of finding the deeper Silver.. Once you get a hit..all it takes is a little wiggle side to side and you actually isolate the good target amongst the junk with a correct reading........ That too is mpressive...........

The V3i has Put "FUN" back into detecting for me..........if for no other reason I can now go back and hunt places that I could not find anything with other detectors.

Having fun is what it is suppose to be about.

It works well..finds coins other machines have missed for one reason or another.. That is good... But fact is..6" on Dimes, Pennies, and maybe 7" on some nickles is about all I am getting.
Have hit a quarter at around 8" clad in softer dirt..

Can I expect better depth as I get "Better" using the V3i ???

It's still fun..and I do Love the screen.......... But Darn.Would like to see some depth once in awhile too..

Yes depth will get better as you "get better" but, it does not come from your detector getting deeper, but rather you learning to recognize the response of deeper coins. It is true with any detector.

About 7" is the best you can expect from any detector if you're looking for a solid coin ID. Anything 7" or more is most likely going to entail knowing how your detector responds not a good solid ID on the VDI or sound. One exception, in my opinion, is the E-Trac which is able to more accurately ID a copper or silver deeper than most.

True statement but Elton is just learning the V. I think he will learn to tweak some more to get some more depth in his ground as he goes.

Yes I guess my comment about it not coming from the detector isn't completely accurate. On your basic beep-N-dig detector there is not much you can do to the detector to improve performance, but on a full featured detector like the V there is a lot that can be done to improve depth.

"No detector has produced any finds in this area for about one year.. Not the Etrac..not the Se pro... Just junk... F75 didn't find any coins either."

I think this says a lot. I've got several sites I've covered with am MXT and my V3i. The "M" won't produce on these sites now. Either the silver is not there, It's way too deep or it just super masked. Maybe as you said your sites have been hit too hard for too long. ?????
