V3i settings and TID question

Can you assign a certain tone to a range of TID numbers. For example assign one tone for say 75-85, then a different tone of 17-22, etc. This way even if the TID is a little jumpy you will only get one sound instead of a bunch of different ones. How accurate is the TID on nickels. Seems like most detectors (even in not so bad ground) have problems with a stable TID on nickels past 3 inches or so. Thanks.

Yes to both answers. The information to set the tones is in the manual and on board quick reference on your detector.

Now if you look at the top of this page in the sticky post you will find Carl's short cuts which also explains how to do this.

Just to add a tidbit as Rob covered your question fully. I have never had a machine that made flute like sounds like the V3i sometimes does. (This is my way of describing the sounds that change from one VDI to the next as you go over a target.) Now, at first I thought "What the heck is that?" and even asked a question here regarding it. But I have to say when it does happen it really catches my attention. Changes in pitch just grab you. But to each his own of course.
