V3i & Salt Compensate

Napper

New member
I'am hoping to do a bit of beach detecting later on this year & need a bit of clarification concerning Salt Compensate on the V3i....Now as I understand it so far is that you can choose any Single frequency & then go to the live control/ground frequency & select Salt...However, if I look at the V3i preset Beach Prog Salt is selected at the same time in both the Transmit Freq as well as in Ground Tracking...

Now if I make my own Beach Prog & set the transmit freq to 3 freq (ignoring the salt option) & select salt in the live control/ground freq will this work ?, or do I have to select Salt in both Transmit Freq & Ground Tracking ?.....When selecting Salt in Transmit Freq is Salt a default of three freq ?....

Many Thanks in anticipation...Bob

Some menu selections are available in multiple menus, you just need to select one of the menus to change the status. Salt Comp is not a frequency default but is the default of the factory Salt Beach program.

If you are making a custom beach program just select salt in the frequency button in the live controls. You don't change anything else. For salt to work it must be more than one frequency. In this case you will be hunting in 3 frequency salt compensation.

For beaches the 9.5 or 12" concentric are the best coils. DD coils don't like the surf and false more. In the dry sand try straight 3 frequency and in the wet use salt. In salt compensation all VLF detectors lose sensitivity to small gold.
