V3i Rain Cover

I just got a rain cover for my V3i. Not really for the rain as much as to prevent the screen from getting scratched.

I got it to match my Etrac and AT Pro covers.

I had a hard time finding a good one. Lot of the big dealers don't even carry them for the V3i. I went back to my old standby. A guy from NY who makes them and awesome quality for under $15.00. He even uses some clear plastic for the screen that is pretty much scratchproof!

Anyone else use covers?

The covers are a must have on the Minelab and I don't know about the AT, but the White's screens are already protected with a replaceable cover....... $5 retail or more often, free for the asking. If you get a ding on what you think is the screen, it is just the cover. You can peel that off and replace it yourself. I don't like the looks of the aftermarket covers but I know enough people do to support an aftermarket business.

I don't like covers, for me they make the screen hard to see. The V3i pod is water resistant and can be used in the rain. As Larry said the replacement for Whites is cheap and easy. I use the Z*** produce on my Minelab.

Thanks for the responses. I actually saw the screens you can replace on the V3i for $6. I actually worry more about the V3i box under the arm. It has a vented area on top for, I am guessing, the speaker(?) I been out 1 day and already had a nice layer of dust on the box and can just imagine what went down those holes into the speaker(?)

I actually got my Etrac covers when I was using my Etrac as my main and had an F2 as a backup. I had the Etrac out in the rain a few times. People laughed when I got an AT Pro cover. 'Dude! It's waterproof!'... "I know I know.. I just like to keep the screens clear. I like to get new machines here and there, and it helps on the resale, you know?

I hunt the beach and never ever hunt without the control box and screen covered.

I have heard from my Whites Dealer that putting a cover on the Battery box and the Screen box it will contain moisture and adventurely it will ruined the machine . Thats what her told me anyways.

GroundScanner. I always wonder about that kinda stuff. You hear it both ways and never really know. Kinda like I heard "Don't cover your air conditioner in the winter or you can ruin it" and then heard "your should wrap or cover your air conditioner in the winter to help protect it"....

I think the covers are OK but if you do get moisture inside, let it air out...... just common sense.

ABSOLUTELY! If it rains all the covers come off. If its 10 degrees outside and I hunt for 2 or 3 hours and I walk into my 70 degree house all the covers come off. I have had 0 problems with condensation. I would feel naked without my covers. I've seen guys hunting the beach with a V uncovered it's beyond my scope of understanding. covers covers covers.... :yikes:
