V3i question for Rob, Accept VDI.S

Rob,
.
I have read that if you accept all vdis you can achieve greater depth. If true what would you suggest for the range of accepted items. All? One program suggests reject -95 to 89, +95, accept -88 to 94. Boost rx start at 10. what also are your suggestions for DISC and AM. Thanks.

Howdy Nalc472--

I'm not Rob but this is what I do: I accept all targets from --95 to + 95 then ascribe a "0" tone for unwanted targets. It's difficult to recommend sensitivity settings as different ground and hunting sights warrant different settings. If I hunt in NY I would use different sens settings than I do in Texas. Best of luck and...

I have read that if you accept all vdis you can achieve greater depth. If true what would you suggest for the range of accepted items. Accepting all VDI doesn't achieve greater depth. As the targets get deeper the VDI becomes less accurate. If you have more discrimination the deeper targets may drift to a discriminated VDI value and you won't see the target. For example if you are hunting deeper nickels but only except VDI 19 that means a nickel that VDI at 21 will be missed. If you accepted 17 to 22 you would see it.

All? If I want all, I just use mixed mode or stereo mixed mode.

One program suggests reject -95 to 89, +95, accept -88 to 94. If the person who wrote the program knows what he is doing he had a reason for this discrimination pattern. If I didn't want to hear nails I would use a different pattern.

Boost rx start at 10. Unless you can hunt at RX 15, in an open area, with low EMI, and few targets, NO.

what also are your suggestions for DISC and AM. Thanks. Depends on too many factors. You have to be specific. Also try one question per post for better detailed answers.
