V3i in shallow water possible?

Hi all. Yes, I am a noobster here. Wondering if there's any Mod-heads that know of a way to isolate the guts of the machine well enough to protect against an accidental droppage in say waist-deep water. I know everyone will want to suggest buying a different detector, but that is proving difficult to justify to the wife. She said "Maybe if the 1st one pays for itself"... Plus I love the V3i and am still learning to use it. Getting another machine will most likely confuse me more.

I've been thinking of a public swimming area nearby and just licking my chops about what's out in the shallows... Anyway, anyone think this is possible?

Oh, I guess I should mention that I do use the wireless headphones, so jacking shouldn't be an issue. Mainly though, it's the display and control features that I think might prove the most difficult. PS- I think I'd cry if I dropped my headphones too.

I too noob. Let's arrange brainstorming session. :nerd:
1. To flood interiors hermetic.
2. Everything to pack into a plastic bag.
Still options are?

Possable, yes.............. wise? No.

I was noticing this company called Ikelite that makes enclosures for underwater photography and they make a box that might fit the bigger part on the V3i. But the display/control would be almost impossible to operate inside of something. Maybe I should not try to scheme any further with this...

I use Aquapac Large Whanganui plastic bag and Blues Sea CABLE CLAM for Fisher F70.

I wear the shoulder strap on. (accessory of Aquapac) The plastic bag floating in the deep water next to me. Rarely watch the display, not problem.
