V3i Firmware? & Comparing two V3i?

JV

New member
I have two V3i and when I look at the Registry info I see different firmwares.
One is REVD - AMD and the other is REVD - SST

Is there any difference between the two?
I notice that the manufacture date is 6 months later on the SST firmware revision.

Is there variations between V3i units in terms of quality of target identification or depth?
If so... What would be the best way to test which is the better V3i and V3i coil??

I will have to wait unit ak_1234 jumps in. Remember it is the weekend, so my quess is you will have to wait until next week.

If I remember right, it was a chip replacement by a different manufacturer, it made no difference in performance.

So when I compare the two detectors running a VERY simple depth test it seems like the SST is actually 1-2 inches deeper??
Here is what I am trying as a test. What would be a better way to run a test between the two?

Both detectors at factory Coin & Jewelry programs set at 10 sensitivity
I found an area of grass where there were no targets and put down various items.
Then I tested how far I could swing the loop above each target before not getting a reading.of any kind.
I didn't look at VDI numbers, frequencies or anything very formal.

I need to try again and swap coils...
Anything else I should try?
