V3i finds from May 15

As an earlier post mentioned we are not seeing a whole lot of stuff posting up here. Sometimes I will put off posting if I'm going out often and sometimes I'm swinging other brands or models. Never the less the V3i is a very capable and diverse detector and I'm surprised there aren't more finds being posted here. Nearby is an 1820 home with about an acre of property that I have always been interested in detecting. Monday the owner gave me the carte blanc to detect his property any time... He had seen me and my stepson detecting at a neighbors property and came by to see what we had found. The 1820 homestead has had much soil moved around over the years and the barn was burnt down and removed in the 1960's. Sadly the visions of 19th century coins faded as few items of antiquity were detected. I may be able to coax some out another time after a good saturating rain. Two silver dimes, 3 wheat back cents, 6 Mexican coins, 10 cent Spain euro, musket ball, 1953 & '54 CT DMV registration tags and other assorted keepers turned up. I started with the 6x10 DD knowing there would be areas where I'd have to pick through iron. After 3 hours I swapped to the D2 and recovered a few deeper coins from the less iron infested areas. I think cleaning out some of the iron may help locate some older coins. I really expected to find at least one large cent....
The silver ring was returned to a neighbor who's child lost this confirmation gift over a year ago. The 1820 home owner went to deliver the ring to his neighbor and told me they never said "thanks". I guess that they are not on the best terms from what I was told. Still, they might not have ever seen it again if we weren't detecting, go figure.

I take the V3 and the ATP. I often have all day so I will split the duty. I also like to see if one unit or the other helps me to better discern the targets I want to dig. We all worry that we are missing something good so productive sites get hunted with both. I will admit that by the time I have my gear on and the V dialed in my hunting buddies are on their 3rd target or so. A killer combo is the D2 on the V and the 5x8" on the ATP when I head out. I take two coils for each detector with me if I really want to mix it up.

That's a nice assortment of finds Ytcoinshooter! The recipient of that Claddagh ring can't have a drop of Irish blood in his veins for his rudeness. That ring is MORE than just a piece of jewelery: it symbolizes love, friendship and loyalty. My wife and I wear gold ones as wedding bands. We purchased them in Dublin.
Best of luck at that site and...

It's a beautiful design and the symbolism significant. What really puzzled me is the neighbor who received the returned ring had seen us detecting when they were in their yard. I always try to notice if any neighbor is watching or curious because it may turn into another detecting opportunity.
