V3I and pinpointing.

My V3i is fairly new to me.....cpl months old and I upgraded from a DFX.
I seem to have pinpointing issues sometimes.
When I go to pinpoint and object, I will start to the right of the target and sweep across it, but it seems like the PP tone
never stops. I can extend my swing out 10 feet to the left of the target and it just keeps going....

You might not be starting the pinpoint far enough away from the target. If you are not using the Hi Pro program, make sure the VCO is turned on and you can always use the manual ratchet pinpoint by squeezing and releasing the trigger a couple of times, that will narrow the pinpoint field down.

Your biggest problem is the coil your using..I'm willing to bet your using the stock coil that came on the machine?

The stock 10D2 is a very easy coil to pinpoint. I use it all the time and with VCO, no problem.

Larry and I use a 10x12 and they pinpoint fine also. The V3i is a good pinpointing machine with big coils. I've sold a few coils lately to fit my hunting needs.

There is nothing wrong with the D2 coil, but I do like the SEF just a little bit better.

Maybe you have the all metal setting too high. If it's a shallow target and large you might have that as you describe.
