V3 - V - DFX

Hi, I have a DFX that i have had for 2 or 3 years, I only go out maybe 10 times a year. The problem is that i found the DFX to be very complicated to set up and i was never sure if i had it right or not. SOOO is there anyone here that had had the DFX and now has the V3 that could compare the two for me. I am on the fence right now Thank you SteveDFX

I agree, its like an updated DFX. Some of the things are alot easier and some is more complicated. There are new things to play with while other things are more easy to understand how to set up. It just like the DFX.. It just takes time to learn and the more you use it...the more you will learn.

Would you say it is doing a better job than the DFX ?. I really do like the looks of the V3 with the color screen and all but if the two do just about the same then its prob. not worth me spending the $$$$ to upgrade? Just interested to get your thoughts on - 1: If you had a DFX would you upgrade and 2: If you Did was it worth it. Sorry if this seems like stupid questions. I'm just trying to justify spending the dollars in these hard times :) Thanks SteveDFX

If you are not into the learning process then possibly a more basic interfaced machine would be better for ya'. (But...like said before, it is worth learning and learning the machine can be fun!) If your going out about once a month or so...understanding and remembering what you have learned the toughy. I'd see about testing an MXT (or similar) to see how you like that. There is no "best" detector...only what is best for you. Good luck.

I have had my dfx for 5 years. I love it and will still hunt with it. I have only had the Vision...V3..for a few weeks now and I love it also. I am using the V3 only for now so that I may learn it faster. I do, In my opinion think it does go deeper and is better at identifying targets. If I could only pick one to hunt with...I would have to pick the V3. Just my opinion...I am sure others will be different. You do have to put the time into learning it to get the most out of it.

Thank you for your very fast responses to my questions this is all so very helpful. I think i will now look around for a good deal. I would really like to see a whites detector that can be programmed on a computer and uploaded... Maybe someday

I'll be able to tell you next week after I get my Vision. I, like you, have (had) a DFX and was just never satisfied with all the settings and the manner in which you had to access the different screens. The V3 is much more intuitive and laid out 100% better than the DFX.

Good luck in your decision process.

Different world. Anybody should be able to get around it in short order. You can say it hunts deeper, performs better on ID...whatever but...the interface is what makes you comfortable to learn this new machine. (It may not be the most performance oriented aspect, but in the end, it might be the most important for many.) Takes a bit to get back into appreciating my DFX (after playing with the V3 so much) but I still really enjoy it.

I have a real hard time with the " Block Edit " thing in the DFX is this the same with the V3 or is it made more simple? I have found many things with my DFX using the Factory setups and tweeking it a little. But when it comes to "Reject - Accept " thing i am completely stumped. I read the book, watch the Vid and even had someone show me. But the next time i get it out i had forgotten how to do it or even what it means. Its just not getting into my thick head!!. So i was hoping the V3 would be easier ??

It is easier....x in the box beside the # means accepted, no x means rejected...

Steve. go to the DFX forum and a lot of good info is sticky posted at the top, including the procedure to block editing. Block edit couldn't be easier. Start at one end of the VDI scale and set to reject or accept and hold down the arrow until you get to where you want to change the accept or reject. Press the ENTER key once and hold down the arrow again to go to where you want to change again if you do.
