I'm thinking about buying a whites v3 that never got used been in this guys closet for two years. just wondering how much deferance there is between it an the v3I how much will the upgrade really benefit me probably never leve the states. hered the I stood for international

The upgrade IMHO is worth the money. There are useful changes, just check my references for the V3, V3i comparison chart at the top of the page. The V3i is a more stable unit. The international function is not important if you are in the states. There are used V3i for sale, check the classifieds for prices. To me sitting in a closet for 2 years is no big plus and would command no premium for me. If you get a good price I see no problem.

True, the i stands for International but the upgrade has more features than just foreign languages. Toward the bottom of this thread is a chart listing the differences between the V series detectors. http://www.findmall.com/read.php?66,1750480,1751347#msg-1751347 If you get the V3, I would definitely get the upgrade. There were some other advancements made in the software on the V3i that are not on the chart.

Lots quieter machine as the V3i ,you are getting a great buy and the up grade is well worth it. Yazoo

I wouldn't sweat it. If you'd bought it for $750 and had the upgrade done, you'd logically added upwards of $50 for shipping it to have the upgrade done and then paid for the upgrade...what's that cost, a hundred? If you paid for return shipping then you'd be getting close to $1000 invested in an untested machine. I'd shop for a good used V3i with some warranty left before I'd think about this kind of a scenario. martin
