V3 non audio glitches?

I have been experiencing a few glitches with the v3.
1] Analyze mode almost never works on first swing. I even give time to stabilize.
2] Analyze mode freezes with a steady target tone after sweeping over target. Happened twice today.
3] Spectrograph is sometimes delayed? The vdi number appears but the bars are significantly delayed or don't show up at all unless trigger is pulled to reset screen. For instance I will be swinging over a target with good repeatable tone vdi of + 83 every time and the spectrograph is still showing the previously rejected target. By the way the target was a Quarter and the spectrograph never came out of the negative until after pulling trigger to pinpoint then it read correctly. And there was no trash anywere around it. It happened all day. I have not adjusted fade rate because I believe a new target should override the previous one on the screen?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What are your settings? What is your Rx Gain? What is your disc sensitivity setting? What is your recovery delay?

If your recovery delay is set large, try decreasing it. Gain and/or sensitivity may need to be lowered for the analyze screen to work better as it relies on not seeing a "target" for some time. If there is electrical noise triggering the target ID'ing system, the screen won't be able to display the real target info. It sounds like the recovery delay may be too long for you. Larry has some recommendations on recovery delay settings he likes which might give you a good starting place if you haven't already done so.

Hope this helps some.

I had gain and sensitivity down around the factory C&J settings which is way lower than I usually do. The ground here is so good I can almost run the V3 almost wide open in a few spots. I have had the V3 since 3/20 and this is the first time it has done this. I don't think it was recovery delay because I actually have it set a little faster than factory C&J and I would still get good tone and vdi just no signogragh. Its not emi either It has done it in spots were I'm a 1/4 mile from any source. And by the way before this machine I had a xlt for about 10 years so adjusting a machine for conditions is nothing new for me the v just wasn't acting right? Thanks for your suggestions

I find that when I get a target of some interest, with the coil off target I'll pinpoint the location. Then again, with the coil off target, I'll switch to the analyze mode, wait a second for the circuit to stabilize, and while in analyze mode, I'll hop the coil across the target and stop just after I pass the target. Then hop it back the opposite direction and stop, then back and forth a few times always stopping to the left and to the right each time. On each stop to the left and right, I'll glance at the display. If the target looks good, I'll analyze again standing approx 90 degrees for maybe 3 to 6 sweeps stopping as before. Being that the Vision is still new to me, this is just the way I been doing this. After awhile, I'll probably change the way I do this. One thing is that I always wait a second or two whenever I switch (toggle) in a mode - after I switch into that mode - just a habit right now - like waiting for a threshold to return before moving on. Not saying any of this is correct - just how I been detecting.

I am puzzled. Have you changed the modulation setting in the search audio section? I hear the higher modulation settings (4 or greater) are probably best as the lower settings can make the audio act not as expected. But it doesn't sound to me like this is it. But, if you had changed that setting recently, maybe it does explain it. Or if there are any other settings that you changed, having that info may help track it down.

I'm anxious to hear further answers to this question, as I could have written it myself. I have analyze issues similar when trying to use the Deep Silver program.

Also, my Spectragraph acts exactly like jer4004's. Now, I'm a reformed MXT guy and may not fully understand the graph's function. However, when I hit a +83 that is definately a quarter and the spectragraph is giving me red bars in the rejected zones, I don't think it's me.

I appreciate all the advice. Keep talking...we're listening.

I have not changed modulation settings. Honestly it was acting like a slow computer it reminded me of a overloaded computer. You know like when you click on something and 10 seconds later it pops up. I would sometimes get the correct reading 5 seconds after I stopped sweeping or not at all. And for analyze mode I always let the threshold stabilize before I sweep the first sweep. The first sweep is always a straight line up and down second sweep is accurate. I would send it in but I can wait till winter I will see how many more have the problem thanks for responding lowjiber.
