V3 finds nice ring!

Here is a neat ring I dug an hour ago with the V3.It gave a reading a VDI reading of 68 to 79,as I swung the machine across it,but here is the strange part it was 8.5 inches down,so I cut an nice round plug and removed the sod, check the hole with the V3 again and got nothing,in the hole,or the sod! I put the pinpointer down the hole and still no reading,so I then checked the sod and bang, there it was, very visable.But..while the sod was laying on it's side,I could not pick it up with the V3???apart from a little
sputter.Still...I'm delighted to have nailed it!

Hi Butch, what was the dominant frequency on the ring and did the VDI reading change once it was out of the ground?

The vdi number was in the 20's when it came out of the ground.I did not get a freq. range because I did not analize it,it was getting dark,so I just dug the plug.
