V3 finds first ring(s)!!!:yo:

I went to this high school with my hunting buddy today we discovered that apparently has not been hunted or at least in a long time. We are finding lots of wheaties and clads, but no silver. Its weird the clad that we are finding are all at least 6 inches and deeper, found a '88 quarter at 8 inches. Maybe they put some fill dirt in some time ago. I drew first blood on the the silver today, but not in coin. I found these 2 rings in the same hole. The dolphin ring is sterling and the bent one is 925, and no I didnt bend it, at least I dont think...And $2.89 in clad in a little over 2 hours. Theres got to be some silver coins there somewhere!

Good job, It is possible that it is hunted regularly by someone who only has a cheap little detector that doesn't go very deep also.

How did you get your other issue solved, or have you? (chatter issue)

Great going. I've got a question. What RX are you running? Believe me if you can take the RX down some and get your Sensitivity up you will quiet down and not loss depth. You might even get a little increase in depth. ( your chatter problem) Rob

I have very few if any problems at this site. All the houses are pretty good distance away. Once I get by the announers building next to the football building I start to get a little bit, then I turn the gain down to 7. I can run it as high as 10 in the fields there with no problem. I was also running the deep silver program with no problems too. I have a 950 coil coming soon so I am looking forward to trying that. Thanks!

Off to the side and behind the bleacher stands, lots of clad there too!

Aron Congrats on the V finds, What coil wear you useing???? Mic

I'm usually running 7 RX, isnt that the sensitivity?

There are 3 sensitivity controls
Rx Gain is how much you amplify the input signal. If you amplify it too much, (ground too strong, EMI too high,...) it will overload the internal circuitry (not really overload, but will swamp it).
Disc Sens allows you to select when the detector should start IDing a target. If all was in an ideal world, your ground would be non changing and be at "0". Your ground changes a little, and there is noise. Noise will give signals above and below 0. You don't want the detector to trigger on the noise, so you want the disc sens to be above the noise setting.

As you lower Rx gain, your noise signals will also decrease. So, you can set the disc sens higher. Basically, you want to lower the Rx gain so that the noise signals aren't swamping your target info. It doesn't hurt to lower the gain when you are in a noisy area.

If you are in an all-metal mode, all metal sens can be lowered to lower the response of the audio to the EMI noise too.

No Aaron it isn't. RX is the preamp or receive gain. I don't think Rx7 is too high but I don't know your conditions. Discrimination is the sensitivity. Use RX to minimize EMI and run the Descrimination as high as you can staying stable to get depth.

Here's what Jimmy Sierra said.

Use the Rx gain to accommodate interference and the Disc (Sensitivity) to optimize depth. For real depth, the important setting is Disc or All metal sensitivity settings. Jimmy

Okay, I feel real smart! I'm re-reading the manuel again.
Thanks again Rob

Very Nice!!!

Here in Wisconsin it's starting to get cold.

Any chance of having an Indian Summer in December?

As long as I can dig and there isn't snow on the ground....
I can "dig it"
