V3 as good as you thought it would be?

A friend got one of the first V3's and loved it. Haven't seen him since. I have a top of the line detector with really no reason to change, but I was wondering since the V3 has been out for some time now, is it all you wanted it to be? That big of a leap over your other machine?

My friend said he could always tell a bottle cap. To me, that's worth the price itself. Others have said it's not as good with bottle caps as reported. What say you all. Glad you bought your V3? What about bottle caps?

Thanks and happy MDing.

For me, This detector is leaps and bounds over anything on the market.
Bottle caps? Anyone that knows the V3 can Definitely tell a bottle cap every time!

I can honestly state that the V3 has surpassed my expectations. With respect to bottlecaps, I can very easily diffrentiate the cap vs other targets. I've also found the V3 to be exceptional in extreme trash and the 5.3 coil. I was picking some dimes out between aluminum cans and lots of iron trash in an old ditch yesterday. I have no reservations in recommending this machine, it works very well.

You all so how do i Disc Caps out and not coins??? Mickfin

I use a very simple method. I listen to the tones, then pinpoint on it. I use HiPro as my primary program, and for Bottle Caps I've learned that they tend to have a lot of iron in them so they're pretty responsive to the mid frequency. The area's I hunt tend to be covered with beer bottle tops, and old soda bottle tops as well. So I guess the answer for me is I don't try to tune the machine to discriminate against them.. I tuned myself to not dig them. I also use the 5.3 coil to peer between the bottle caps for hidden (masked) targets. It works pretty well for me.

I am willing to accept that I'll dig a few targets that are trash (bottle caps in the mix), and it has been fruitful for me, I've picked up a few silver dimes masked by stuff like that.

Aurium so do you use tone ID with your method ??? Mic, Thanks

Bottlecap ID is a piece of cake. If it ID's as a quarter but the dominate frequency is not 2.5, you KNOW it not a quarter and 99% sure it is a bottlecap. I left 1% in there in case it might be something else besides a bottlecap.

1% Larry LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mic

1. All the different settings that can be utilized by the user. You can custom tune your detector how you want it and quickly where as other detectors limit what you can set or dont even offer that option at all. It can be a bit overwhelming for the novice.

2. This machine will give you alot of information when you do hit a target. Not just a beep or a #. You have other things at your disposal that will allow you to evaluate the target.

3. Its just as good with gold as it is with silver and everything in between. It is fully guaranteed and has the backing of a great company that will do almost anything to please its customers.

Ok, maybe thats four but there are just so many!!!

V3i is the STUFF! Sensitivity - flexibility - adjustability - adaptability - fast - slow - deep - accurate - jewelry - coins - relics - big coil - small coil - concentrics in low minerals - dd in mineralization - tot lots - beaches salt/fresh - lots of target info and it's a Whites - will last forever and best customer service in the business! Can you tell i'm impressed?? hh
