v3 and sef 15x12 scored me another pocket watch :clapping:

Last night I went out and used the sef trying to cover the ground where I previously found the first pocket watch. I figured with added depth I should be able to find the front flip cover on the last one. I flagged all my found targets with apple wood sticks and went back this morning with a 5.3 to pinpoint them. I pulled one square nail at 8" and some deep clad, and of course a pocket watch that was intact. It is not as fancy as the last one but still cool to find.

It was no more than 10ft from the last one and I had gridded the area off with the D2 and not seen it. And I searched thoroughly. I also pulled an old brass 16g shotgun shell out, it to was within 10ft of the silver pocket watch location and was masked by iron and the d2 could not see it.

I have a new technique, grid with the 15x12 and then go back in with the 5.3. It sure has proven to be a winner, and not being v-rated is not causing a problem but it may with gold prospecting.

I am going to have to at least give Kellyco a call.

I forgot to add the watch was 9-10" down, measured. It read from 70-78 on the vdi and would dip into the high 50's. Surrounded by nails and can slaw. Makes for very slow hunting.

Nice going! The 12x15 is great in certain locations!

Hard to argue with the results you're getting. Thats a difficult find at best, but it does illustrate how slow you have to go, especially with mixed trash in the midst of all this. I've got an area that I've been hunting with the D2, and I get a lot of falses, but I've found some great stuff. Nothing deeper than about 8 inches, which is plenty deep but I suspect there's some deeper silver considering what I've found so far. Thanks for sharing the finds.. I really enjoy seeing what everyone else is finding.

Gridding is a very effective technique, and I take it a little farther with a cross hatch, and then a diagonal grid, which has been very productive for me. Sometimes those targets that are in the ground at an angle only show up with a particular sweep that is orthogonal to the angle the coin is lying in.

It sure is, but do I keep it when its not v-rated. Kellyco lied to me.... plain and simple.:sadwalk:

Well, I guess that depends on what you want. If you are really wanting a V rated coil that is big, You will just have to wait. I am sure they will come out sooner or later. If you are willing to settle for a little bit of a lesser coil for now until then, Then keep it. I have one and I know in the right places it is very good!
