I have been blessed to Live 45 miles North of Wisconsin's close encounter with a Meteor. I took a drive to the location where a internet news reported a Farmer had been sitting outside at 10 P.M. and the giant fireball roared over. He heard a tinging on a shed roof 20 seconds later and found the very 1st piece of this meteor. This is the same Meteor that was seen across 4 or 5 states.
I was able to talk to the farmer and his neighbor. His neighbor under certain conditions allowed me to take the v3 out to try to find a piece. So far they have found 5 or so small fragments so I figured I would find someone with one before venturing any further and see if the v3 would hit on it. Ran across a Lady that had one the size of a golf ball but square. Set the v3 up in all metal and hits as much as 7 inches away. On disc. it is reading a steady -93 -94. There were some other detectors there that would not pick it up. One had a small meteorite and it picked this up good as well. I own a couple meteorites and they ring the same as this. SO these v3's will do a good job at picking up Meteorites
I hit a field for awhile but come up empty handed. The Farmer was nice enough to allow me to come back on a later date. Which I will.
One thing I noticed was I cannot run TX boost on with The RX cranked up without overloading even in the air. Need to keep it under 8 and disc. below 80. I used to be able to do this with all setting cranked.
Been working at it all afternoon and still the same. May send this in for the v3i update now that that is happening. I bought this detector in March so I will only cost $25.
