V nickel?

I got a chance to get out for a while today, snow almost gone, I was hunting out in the country, found an old foundation off a gravel road....I found a 1924 silver standing liberty and what I think is a V Nickel dated 1881 but I cant read anymore on it..Looks like a picture of a lady on the front..It has a ridged edge like a quarter or dime....Read out at 14....Anyone know anything about a V Nickel??

:clapping: Hey Bud congrats on the Standing Liberty Quarter those are very hard to find . As for the V- nickle it should date between 1883 - 1912 and if it's a reeded edge than it's something other than a V - nickle . All U.S. nickles are made with a smooth edge . Can you post a good pic of the coin maybe I can give you an ID ? Congrats on the oldies ! :usaflag:

Thanks for replying Ratman..The nickel was pretty dull....After doing some cleaning I found the date to be 1891...Still feels like ridges on the outside but probably just wear...The coin probably not good enough for a picture...Im tickled to find it and the quarter...Spring coming...Bud
