Working on my nickels.. and I'm lovin' the smart find on older nickels. Nickels in my area corrode pretty badly, so my older XLT would always show more ferrous (SE speak).. and lean towards screw cap, and the signal was always pretty 'iffy', until you open a hole. Once the XLT could get a better view, it would beep on nickels better.
This was fine, if you knew how the XLT would work on old nickels in my area... and that took me a few years before I figured that out and starting finding V's.
I was worried with the SE that I'd have to learn a whole new system to break the deep nickel code.. and to my pleasant surprise, the SE slays on the nickels for me. I've found a quite a few 40s era Jeffersons, 1 Buffalo and today I was able to land a V-Nickel. Smart find was extremely accurate. I like to rely on the smartfind vs digital for the nickels. Seems like when I go digital, I pull more junk.
Anyways.. short story long, I was stoked to pull a V-Nickel out today!!
