V is for Victory!!!

I had about a half hour to kill before my wife got home, so I decided to hunt my side yard. A few weeks ago it had given up a Barber Quarter....so why not? I must really be getting the hang of this Ace 350 now. I had dug 2 memorials after about 5 minutes, a piece of lead and then on my 4th target, decided an iffy signal was a nickel. I dug it expecting a Jefferson, but was ecstatic when I could make out the stars of a V Nickel. I was super stoked, because in the last couple of weeks, I've found nothing but clad. The MD'ing Gods were mocking me with 5 1965 Quarters and 11 1965 Dimes, last week...lol. Guess they thought I was due. The nickel is pretty worn, but I'm glad I was able to find it and give it a home...lol. HH all.

WTG ! It is always a treat to find those old nickles!! Tomorrow I'm going out, I will need to hunt between thunder storms, such is life...Mike

Nice,,I have found many in the past. They don't usually clean up ,,as you know. Put a little gun oil or WD-40 on it and call it good.

Kinda like flash says, Ive never seen a "V" nickel that wasn't worn to a nub. I think maybe they were the quarter of their day, the coinage workhorse our .25 cent piece is.
And like he says , smear some WD-40 on it and carry it around for braggin' over the next few days.

thanks fellas....this was a good one for me because I can mark it off of my list. Up next is an Indian Head penny....yep...that's right! Not asking for silver, although I'd be thrilled with finding some more...lol. I just want to get one of those Indian Heads...lol.

Awesome ! Nice old nickel !

Nice find, congrats!
