USMA Class Ring Found & Returned to Iraq Veteran

I was asked to search a beach to help a veteran find his West Point Class ring. What a great feeling to be successful and make the return; the smiles and bear hug was the bonus!

I live in some highly mineralized country but this beach was incredibly harsh. Best I saw on my CTX w/ 17" coil Auto +3 was a sensitivity of 5-8, recommended 1 or 2. Trying to go manual was chatty. I found a quarter at approx 3" and I had to kick it around to get a solid tone and a good pinpoint. Would have been interesting to see what the 11" coil numbers were. The ring came in at 12-42, thought for sure it was a dime, nope, as the sand sifted clear of my scoop the large gold ring was unmistakable.

Good for you, hope you thanked him for his service.

You made that soldier's day...month...year...decade. Our class rings are very meaningful to us indeed...whether your West Point or OCS. They are reflections of a deeply held time in our lives, career and life's work.

Thank you....

Flysar, thank you very much for that. My oldest son, now a Colonel, is a 1992 West Point graduate. When he was stationed in Italy his apartment was broken into and all his jewelry stolen, including his West Point ring, he was devastated. I know this young man whose ring you found is most grateful, thank you for such a wonderful deed, may the good Lord bless. John Saldivar family
