Using the Tesoro Stingray 2

Hi Yall ;~)

Took my "new" stingray 2 (S2) out for a spin. Went to a "slghtly" freshwater lake Sun. for 4-5 hours. The lake is a stone's throw from the gulf. I've been told the water resembles Lake Michigan's water.(I hope not it's red tinted) The S2 would not ground balance at all kept going negitive everytime I lowered the coil. Which is normal here at our sandy beaches. I also think this is a brackish water area somehow. It's not linked to the gulf though?
Anyway, I found little or no targets in the chest high water but alot in the middle and shallow water. This Makes me think one of two things- A. Somebodys beating this area to death or B. The S2 is not seeing deep enough(the gb was off too) to reach the deeper targets.
I ran my disc at "0" for this test run. Dug 38 +/- tabs,2 zincs, assorted iron and one necklace that sounded off really well. ( turned the disc up to 4 and it still came in solid) Dug some targets from the 5-6 inch range up to 3 scoops(10-15?) inch range. S2 "peeped" alot but all good targets were solid and repeatable.
The headphones pinched my head a bit. But in all fairness I wear a 7 1/2 hat. I think at some point the pole was swapped on mine it is the standard 2 piece unit with no provision to mount the box on the rear/under arm mount. I know mounted on the pole it's a finger rubber/scuffer. I also found out from the instructions that the TR mode was added to use in saltwater along with the Disc @ 4 to comp for the salt. I'm also wondering if I tweek the threshold up a bit will it make the disc. mode hit deeper targets??? (My Bandito/ bandito 2 will) I think all in all I've very pleased with the S2 and I believe it's a keeper! :~) If I had opened the case and trimmed the sens back a hair it would have been less "peepy". I want to get the 10.5 inch coil but I'm gonna make myself wait till i recover a few gold rings to help fund it. Had fun, got some sun and a little exercise too!

HH & Go jump in a lake!

Hi...Do you still have your Stingray2? Or remember how the settings work best? I got a used one a couple weeks ago. I'm not having any luck in finding anyone that can help me set it correctly. I can't find anything that tells which button inside is what. Just that there are three. I am trying to find out which one is which one? lol.. Any help would be wonderful. Thanks

Great detector. You need the manual because you have three settings inside the control box that are key to depth one being sensitivity. Good luck. I mounted mine on a straight shaft.
