using the long setting

im wondering what percentage of you guys are stretching the sound using the long setting. seems like working in trash with a little squeak coming through would let you examine it better.

"Examine it better"? It seems that all you'd be doing is to allow more potential masking "in trash".

The more trash, the FASTER your recovery should be. To have a long recovery, merely means you're more likely to have your targets influenced/mixed with nearby targets.

Ive tried the long settings.... i do use pitch hold. Im kind of with Tom, it does give you a longer tone, but at what expense. You can get used to anything, but there is a growing pain until you do. What works best for me in those impossible trash areas is opening up disc, turn on Ferr sounds, work the area slow and maybe turn off fast and deep. That also gives you a bit longer tone and more accurate TID.
