I live in Arizona and want to buy a nugget detector. From what I have read, minelab is the way to go; but, Being poor, minelab is out of reach, so I am looking at the lobo. Unfortunatly, Yavapai county where I live is highly mineralized w/ an abundance of hot rocks. So my question is, Can the Lobo be tuned to operate with these conditions?

By switching into the Alkalai mode the Lobo will ID hot rocks! I that mode each sucessive sweep across the target the audio will drop and after 3 or 4 passes the machine goes silent. When that happens you know its a hot rock! Not many machines can do that.
