using sov gt out of auto mode

I have been using my sov gt since april in the auto mode. I would like to know how to effectively run the machine in the manual sensitivity mode, I have been using the auto mode and found some nice things but, my main interest is in finding old coins and getting the most out of the machine.I"m assuming that the first click to the clockwise position is maximum sensativity and that turning to far clockwise position is the least. Do you turn it out of auto and listen for falsing and /or threshold sound to be stable in using the machine in the manual sensitivity positions? Also I have one other question, when you change to a different size coil on the machine is it necessary to recalibrate the 180 meter? Thank you for your inputs and I greatly appreciate the advice

You are correct in your thinking use as much sensitivity as your ground will allow then back it off just a little more and you should be fine.
And yes you need to recalibrate the meter any time you change the coil. Low and slow is the way to go to find the deep stuff.

her is a test i did a few days back with my SOVEREIGN XS-2a Pro machine, mainly to see were the auto depth is matched when used out of auto. i have done some air test on a small silver coin.
the machine was layed on the floor with a tape measure layed in frond of the coil. i played around with the sensitivity knob and this is what i came up with.
see pic.......
please remember the test was air tested only.

personally i will only use the auto setting if the field conditions wont allow me the use the sensitivity knob anyware out of auto. depending on the field conditions the 12 o'clock position is ok to hunt in but quite often you have to back it of to about the 2-3 o'clock position to stop any folsing sounds. i also find if the soil is to damp the only way you can hunt in is in the auto position but depending how wet the ground is sometimes even in auto dosn't work that well without folsing. ( the dryer the ground the more you can push it)
if you wont to find them deeper small targets you need to hunt out of auto when ever the conditions will allow it........
