Using rechargeable batteries in the Tejon

I found a good deal on a battery charger and four 2500 mAh rechargeable NiMH batteries. The brand is Ansmann Max E, a company from Germany. Just got the set today and everything seems good with them, especially the price..... $4.27 for the charger and 4 batteries.
My question is will the 2500 mAh batteries work fine in my Tejon ? I still need to get another set for my Tejon if they will work ok, otherwise I can always use them in my digital camera or wireless mouse etc. Thanks......Oh, if anyone else wants to purchase one of these sets, here's the link: https://horizonbattery.infusionsoft.com/app/page/3d40c54ba1dc48d51cc4fad24a34ca53

I use rechargeables in my tejon. no problems if they are fully charged. the ones I use are cheap ones from Costco and are only rated for 1900mah. only problem is that when they run low it affects the disc when i use the stock coil...you have to then lower your disc setting if you are cherry picking because silver will disc out at max disc setting in alt disc or main disc. keep a silver coin in your pocket to check. this problem does not occur when i use a small coil like the 5.75 widescan..only with the stock coil and perhaps with other large coils.

I buy my batteries online from battery junction,
I only buy the 'LSD' type. these are the Low Self Discharge type. These have a charged shelve live of 80% in one a year.
I have two Tejons, a Omega,, Coinstrike, and the rechargeables are all I ever use!

I stopped using Non 'LSD' because of the short storage life, regulars just consume themselves are to high of a rate. Over a few months of using regular NiMH batteries they will develop a false bottom and start dropping off on usable operation time. So you will either need to replace them, or figure a good way to slowly and completely discharge them, like in a flash light, or just wired to a light bulb, I made I little deal out of some resistors to discharge my batteries.
I know the NiMH batteries wasn't supposed to develop false bottoms, but they DO!! now granted nothing like the NicCad's did.

Mark get yourself a La Crosse BC-700 battery charger. Not only does it charge your batteries, it also discharges them, test them, and reconditions them. It works great!

I've got one (not that brand) for the AA-AAA batteries, but not for the 9v. is that charger compatible with the LSD batteries.

Also I've found that a good many chargers rapid charge, and in those a good bit of them rapid discharge. So, with those its good to on occasion do a manual SLOW drain cycle, like hook the 9v up to a 12v bulb (it has a greater OHM's value across the filament) a somewhat dead 9v will make that bulb glow for Hours! before its down to almost no light at all. I never let them go completely DEAD! (no light at all) doing this can reverse the polarity of the battery which isn't good, so I never SUCK the bottom out of a battery, the rapid discharges of some of the auto chargers really heats the batteries a lot! now for RC hobbies (Toy cars, Boats, Planes, Coptors) the people need fast cycles of batteries, they really don't care if they get a thousand cycles out of them, they really don't care if they only get 50 cycles of them, as long as their at the field and can get their stuff back up running again. Some flying times on full charged batteries nay only be a few minutes, so they either need several sets of batteries or a rapid charge charger. They would probably try to cycle them down at the field, but the run them a maximum HEAT and this shortens their life a lot.
A slow constant drain occasionally is very good for these batteries and it will often times recover some lost usable operation time to the device they're used in.

Mark just do a google search for La Crosse BC-700 Charger'. There's loads of good info on it. It only charges AA & AAA battles and LSD as well.

I did my research and it's best charger for the money on the market for AA and AAA batteries. Anything else is a waste of money.

Well to say that anything else is a waist of money is a little over the top.
here is the one I have, and its a smart charger, it cycles the batteries, has LCD displays each battery state. It has a 12 volt adapter plug to use in a car, so I can charger the batteries anytime I have access to my car.
The price on these runs up to around $50.00 or you can get it at battery junction for under $30.00 This charger charges 8 batteries in any order of one through 8, which is perfect for my Tejon and my 1266 both uses 8 AA batteries. I've had mine for about two years and it work very well. I don't believe I would trade mine for the La Crosse.

Mark I meant to say 'anything less', because there are more expensive and better units. I spent years reading posts on the candelpowerforums about flashlights and chargers. The guys on that forum are 'flashaholics' and really get into batteries and chargers. The La Crosse charger comes highly recommended.
