using EX II lower shaft on EX I

Was wondering if I could put the explorer II lower shaft on my old explorer, it looks like the cam is on top now instead of on the bottom, but is the shafts shaped the same? Those of you that have both machines could answer this for me. Thank you in advance.
 
yes you can, they interchange without trouble....HH Bri
 
I just called Kelly Co, yes the II round shaft will will fit the I square hole. And yes for $38.00 you can get the shaft. LOL
