using AA rechargeable batteries in dfx

New member
Any tips on whats the best secret... using all 8 or less as I see 1.2v rather than 1.5v but amps are higher...
a newbie who was told it can be done from a pro.
Thanks
Sayvor

Yes, you can use rechargable AA's in your DFX. I got tired of always taking them out of the holder (battery pack) to recharge them so I added a socket to my battery packs so I could recharge them without removing them from the holder.

Hey Tom, how and where did you put a socket and what type of transformer charger did you use and how long did it take to charge as well as knowing with an indicator they were ready to go? Sounds do-able and how did the socket not get in the way of the dfx battery door.

But i guess you havn,t posted enough and i don't know anymore if i can post links.Rules are con fussing .

Forum rules: http://www.findmall.com/read.php?85,1734669

You can post links and information for the batteries and chargers. We discourage posting links to other forums, EBay businesses and Dealers who are not our sponsors.

Rob (IL) has posted a lot on building rechargeable packs for White's detectors on here, try searching the MXT, V3 and Modification forums.

Thanks Larry just still not sure one was a you tube and the other two were links to xlt battery build and whites v3 just thought it would help one is metal detecting USA.Well you should be out hunting 47 degrees here today and 55 tomorrow.

The thought crossed my mind Fred but it is raining here today, supposed to get an inch of liquid sunshine. YouTube posts are OK as long as they don't have Google ads in them. The ads pop up at the 10 second mark and are indicated by a yellow bar in the time line.

HI Fred, what is your user name on you tube so I could check your vids out? Only if you are allowed to share that info,

Thank you,

Sayvor

they are for v3 and xlt but give basic ideas on how to build dont think there is a difference in XLT nad DFX but always check . Thought this might help but not sure anymore what links you can post..One is for xlt and one for v3 but i would think the xlt is same as dfx .But always double check . Xlt http://www.metaldetectingintheusa.com/batterypack.html whites v3 http://www.metaldetectingintheusa.com/v3i-batterypack.html XLT you tube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pf6YzfRloio Hope this helps but i would Always double check advice and direction.

Mods are appreciated, for keeping it REAL..
Thank you Larry

You can go this way too.

http://66.51.97.78/jb/battery.html

and I have NiHm 2450 mah, energizer batteries at home depot or lowes or any store.

and you can use a cheap charger like this. works well

http://www.all-battery.com/TenergySmartUniversalChargerforNiMHandNiCdBatteryPacks-01005.aspx

but I stepped up too Li-ion bat. a little lighter, lots of different ways to go on battery mods. if you are going with the AA's .get NiHm as close to 3000 Mah as you can for longer running time
