those people that use the ctx3030,on average would be over six feet tall or under six feet tall?i'm six foot, six inches tall and when i owned the etrac i was always tripping over the coil if i wasn't carefull.i was thinking that maybe the ctx3030 was designed the same way pandering to the average person below the six foot mark.emubob

Get the 17" coil and put on the CTX, at 6'6", I'll dare you to walk and swing without tripping over it.... I do it and I'm only 6'2".... an extra long lower shaft would be an excellent move by Minelab! I agree that they probably built it with the sub 6' person in mind.

Bob: I'm 6-3 I love my 3030. The lower rod is longer than my 705 or my Excalibur. The extra inch's make swinging it so much easier, I always hated the Excalibur's shorter lower shaft. It always seems troublesome when swinging for a long time, it never felt normal. I have my 3030 almost maxed out and swinging it feels great. I think you'll be happy upgrading to the 3030. HH Jack

6'-3" Tall and no problem with the CTX3030 with the stock coil. Have not tried the 17" coil, but I suspect it will be problematic.

Guess height may not have everything to do with it..... maybe arm length to body height has more to do with it.....some may have a reach advantage.

I am 6' 4" and have no problem with the stock coil. I think it has to do with the individual. Even on things like the weight and balance. People always ask me if the weight of the 3030 is a problem. For me, I can swing the 3030 for hours and it doesn't bother me at all but I can swing a lighter weighted detector, like one with an s-rod and it bothers me. My height has never been an issue with the 3030.
