User A/B on Ex2 Question

Dang

Active member
Okay. We have a "User A" option and a "User B" option on the Explorer 2, right? Making it possible to save 12 custom settings. Right?
Like supposedly I can use "A" for my park and school programs and "B" for beach hunting. Now according to the manual and Andy's older
Explorer book all I have to do is go to "settings" and choose either "A" or "B" to load. So far so good. I press "YES" and it should load in about
5 seconds according to the reading material. So I dash over to "SELECT" after choosing "B" and S1 S2 S3 S4 etc all seem to be the same
loaded programs I have in user "A". Well I must have been in user "B" since I got the Explorer last fall I think to myself. So back to "SETTINGS" I go and
this time I choose "A" and back to "SELECT" and again the same dang programs......I'm doing something wrong but WHAT?

Have you considered loading the same program in both A and B?? Happened me lol :crylol:
Load the program (A or B) then push the detect button, A & B only allow 2 of your programs to be loaded.
Should that not be enough the S1, S2.. Can be saved to hold more programs.

I never use them (S1, S2 etc) since I after loading only have to make minor changes the the programs I loaded in A & B any ways.

The User A / User B option allows you to save varous settings including:

AUDIO
- Threshold Tone
- Variability
- Limits
- Max Limit
- Gain
- Sounds
- Response (SE)

OPTIONS
- Recover; Fast
- Recover; Deep
- Contrast
- Response (XS & II)

SENSITIVITY
- Mode
- Level

Once you have these tweaked for your application such as PARKS = USER A and BEACHES = USER B, you can easily switch between the two by using the SELECT option.

The discrimination or PATTERN is NOT part of the USER A / USER B collection. You will need to select the desired discrimination at the site you are hunting once the USER A or B is chosen.

Then press NOISE CANCEL and start hunting . . . . just about a "turn on and go" detector

Hope this helps

Andy,

May I expand a little on the User A & User B Settings. It is true that the discrimination pattern when saved in S1 thru S6 has no effect on the User Settings when saved. However, if you load one of your saved discrimination patterns or construct a discrimination pattern on the fly - so to speak - and then save your users settings in either A or B, your present disc pattern that is one the screen at the time of saving will also be saved in the saved user settings as well and will be loaded again when you access whichever discrimation pattern was saved in A or B. I hope this helps.
