used X-Terra 705 what to look for ?

Well-known member
I just bought a used X-Terra 705 with stock 7.5 kHz concentric. After seeing many videos on youtube I wanted to try a detector with advanced discrimination patterns and it seems that the X-Terra fits the bill. Since it is previously owned, any issues I should be looking for ?
I seem to recall one video that I can't find anymore where a certain target seems to be identified incorrectly. When going from one target to the other, the detector seems stuck on the previous target ID. Is this a known issue from a certain batch of early models or just one faulty detector ? Thanks for any help.

I should be getting the detector in a couple of weeks.

Hi Mike. No its normal. Page 20 of the 705 manual says the last detected target stays on display until another target is detected. I notice that it goes away after a certain amount of time goes by. HH

You might be talking about that VDI #42 Quarter / Iron Bottle cap ... If you can get to bounce / jump to #44 bingo bottle cap

Those nickle / pull tab are suckers VDI .. might be a RING

I have had two or three used ones and have never had a problem with any of them.

Congratulations on the purchase!
I highly recommend that you do a factory reset first thing, just to make sure that you're starting with the machine as it came new w/o any "glitches".

Thanks everyone.

The factory reset procedure is in the manual ?

I hope I'm going to like it. I've had 4 First Texas machines so far and still own and use an F5 and F19. I think I will have to relearn everything with this one but I'm looking forward to it anyway.
