Used the 4.5

Used the 4.5" concentric for 35 minutes in a bark chip area. Found 4 quarters, 1 nickel, 10 pennies, a toy ring and a simulated Spanish real, maybe brass.

You're lucky to have that rare coil. Bet a lot of guys on here would love to have one.
Wonder if Garrett is listening. I bet they are and I also bet sales on the Scorpion are
on the rise because of this forum. I bet.
Good hunting to you Ron !

Yeah, a real collectors item Bill. I am thinking that maybe, just maybe,
this forum will spark a renewed interest in the Scorpion. Then we might
see the concentric coils being made once again. Or maybe even a new
Scorpion...maybe. Stranger things have happened.

Nice hunt!:detecting:Not bad for half an hour.:wiggle:Hopefully you find a real ring next time!:thumbup:And a real.........Real?:lmfao:Best of luck to ya!:biggrin:Happy Hunting!:)

Yes Garrett still makes the 4.5" Scorcher-Sniper-Crossfire II coil, also the 6.5" x 9" Concentric, 7" x 10" Concentric, 9" x 12" Concentric, and a 10" x 14" Power DD coil for their other machines but why not for the Scorpion??

Yes I know there is the (Pulse Induction) Infinium LS for gold prospecting with lots of different coil sizes.

Will the higher gold prices now and higher demand for gold machines, it is odd that Garrett does not make a new model (VLF) Scorpion, will a full selection of coils. Garrett already has the Auto-Ground Balancing technology called FastTrack on the GTI 2500, so they should put this on a new Scorpion, along with the existing Manual-Ground Balance, and have both Auto and Manual-GB together on one machine(like the GMT), keeping it in the Analog format. Also keeping the very good Discrimination VLF and TR Modes.

Nah I think I'll hang onto it. When she was still there Mary Penson at Garrett gave me that little jewel. It was the last one they had.

Bill

Yeah that's the main reason I got this forum up is to drum up new interesr in the Scorp. I've been after Garrett for some time to update it and bring it up to par with current machines. Maybe the success of this forum will get their attention.

Bill

Good point Bill, so you contacted them too. I also contacted Garrett some time ago(the person said they would pass on my suggestion) to update the Scorpion with Auto-GB(they already have FastTrack technology), but still keep the Manual-GB and have both types of GB's on a new machine. I would also like a 5-15-30 kHz switch if possible, and a easier and better battery(box) changing. Also keep that famous Groundhog circuitry, unless they can find better. The Scorpions Groundhog curcuit has found alot of gold in the past, and works good, among the best prospecting VLF's. I hunted with a very successful prospector who used a Groundhog, it handled bad mineralization well, good depth, and finds very small gold. Also 15 kHz is almost the ideal frequency for gold rings and jewelry. I use to own the Goldhunter(A2B in Australia) in 1986 and then the A3B, but never owned a Scorpion yet, and have been thinking of getting one. Like I said before with the renewed interest in gold, it would be good to update it a bit with more coils. But yes as it is, it is still good.

Iv had several Scorpion's over the years, they are good machines, however I never keep them for very long. They are a bit on the heavy side, changing the batteries is a pain, and the coil selection is quite limited. I would like to see what many of the others have suggested. A lighter machine, auto tracking as well as manuel GB, different battery set up, three frequency switch possibly 5-15-30, and a three position trigger switch, back for all medal pinpoint, center for single tone hunting, or possibly two tone (ferris, non ferris), forward for three or four tone coin and jewelry. I think with this set up the Scorpion sales would take off like what happened with the Ace-250.
